About
About Yaadgaar
Yaadgaar is a private shared photo album app for India. Everyone in a family, a group of friends or on one trip adds their photos to one album, and turns the best of them into yaadein: a photo book to read on the phone, share on WhatsApp or print.
What you can do with it
- Start a circle and invite people with one code on WhatsApp.
- Add photos from your phone, or share them in from WhatsApp, Google Photos or Files. Each photo is filed under the month it was taken.
- Make yaadein: a photo book of a month, a trip or a festival. It comes as a PDF in 4R or A4 to print at any photo shop, as a link that opens in any browser, and as a short video.
- Look back at a festival, a date or a place, year by year.
- See a jhalak each day: a few old photos with a line about them.
Who it is for
Any circle of people who want one album: a family, cousins, school or college friends, a team at work, the people at a wedding, the people on one trip, even people who met on it. Yaadgaar is not made for families alone. You can be in several circles at once. Nobody in one circle sees another.
What it costs
Yaadgaar is free to join, and it has no adverts. Each circle starts with its own space. The space, and the pages in each book, grow as more people join and verify their email.
Which phones it works on
Android, from Google Play, since 10 October 2026. There is no iPhone app yet. On an iPhone you can read any yaadein that somebody shares with you, in your browser. Tell me when it’s on iPhone
Who can see the photos
Only the people in the circle. There is no public feed. Members see each other’s names, never an email address or a phone number.
A reduced copy of each photo is read by an AI model, Anthropic’s Claude, to check that the photo is safe to store and to describe it in one line for a jhalak. The model is told nobody’s name and is not asked to identify anyone. The privacy policy says the rest.
Who makes it
Yaadgaar is built and run by one person, Nikhil Garg, in Chandigarh, India. The person who builds the app is the person who answers your email: support@getyaadgaar.com.
The name
Yaadgaar means a keepsake in Hindi and Urdu. People who have only heard it also write it Yadgaar or Yadgar. Yaadein means memories, and is the name for the photo books the app makes. A jhalak is a glimpse.
